Overview

In this role you operate as a senior member of a renowned Regulatory & Corporate Defence team in Bristol, handling complex regulatory, investigations and white-collar matters. You will advise clients across sectors, support regulators, and contribute to business development and team growth. The role combines high-profile advisory work with mentoring and cross-functional collaboration. You will help shape strategic responses to regulatory and corporate crime issues while maintaining strong client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on complex regulatory and corporate defence matters, including health and safety, anti-bribery and financial crime
  • Lead investigations involving regulators (CMA, SFO, HSE, Environment Agency)
  • Support on inquests and public inquiries (experience beneficial)
  • Handle environmental regulation, food law, licensing, trading standards, and transport regulatory matters
  • Address white-collar investigations and corporate crime issues
  • Provide strategic, pragmatic advice to clients across sectors
  • Maintain and develop strong client relationships
  • Participate in business development, networking, and sector-focused initiatives
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to team development

Key requirements

  • Minimum 6 years’ PQE in a professional legal environment
  • Strong experience in regulatory defence, investigations or health and safety
  • Ability to manage complex matters with professionalism and efficiency
  • Experience handling multi-agency investigations
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build trust with clients
  • Collaborative approach and interest in contributing to team strategy
  • Ability to mentor and support junior colleagues
  • Established client base or referral network preferred but not essential
  • Competence using Microsoft Office, case management and digital dictation systems
