Application Engineer – Switchgear Controls & Digital Systems

Overview

In this role you enable digital modernization of critical power infrastructure by leading switchgear controls retrofit projects across EMEA. You will design SCADA-ready control architectures, integrate protection systems, and support field activities with international teams. You’ll drive standardization of retrofit solutions while partnering with service teams to deliver reliable, digital-enabled power distribution. This is a hybrid position in Hengelo or Ankara with a clear impact on future-focused grid modernization.

Responsibilities

• Execute MV and LV switchgear retrofit projects focusing on control, protection and digital systems
• Deliver SCADA integration, protection relays, trip units, RTUs, RMUs and digital secondary systems
• Support relay programming, configuration, testing, commissioning and on-site activities
• Design SCADA-ready control architectures and remote-control solutions
• Provide technical support to service teams across EMEA
• Conduct site assessments to define project scope and execution requirements
• Act as technical champion for switchgear controls and digital systems
• Contribute to technical documentation, best practices and standardization of retrofit solutions

Key requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
• Minimum 5 years in Power Distribution, Services or Switchgear Engineering
• Strong knowledge of MV switchgear and protection relays
• Understanding of switchgear, trip units and control systems
• Experience with SCADA systems, RTUs, digital control architectures and RMUs
• Hands-on experience with protection relay programming, configuration and commissioning
