Payroll Support Specialist

Overview

In this role you will support payroll operations within a large organization, ensuring data accuracy and compliance with UK legislation. You will collaborate with HR and Finance, handle system testing and improvements, and manage complex payroll activities including director and overseas payroll. Responsibilities

• Process and validate payroll data to meet deadlines
• Ensure HMRC reporting obligations are accurate and timely
• Manage complex payroll activities including director/overseas payroll
• Investigate, diagnose and resolve payroll data discrepancies
• Support payroll system upgrades, maintenance, testing and business continuity
• Perform manual payroll calculations when required
• Produce payroll reports for management, audit and compliance purposes

Key requirements

• Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and processes
• Experience with payroll systems and payroll software
• Excellent payroll calculation skills and attention to detail
• Experience supporting payroll systems, data validation or payroll projects
• Understanding of UAT and system testing methodologies
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to work to strict deadlines
• Good communication skills to explain complex payroll matters
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Payroll or Finance qualification desirable
