Senior Structural Engineer

Overview

In this role you will join Cundall’s Structural Engineering Team in Newcastle to design prestigious projects across the UK and internationally. You will lead project teams, deliver detailed structural calculations and drawings, and collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues to realise complex, sustainable structures. You’ll work across sectors, applying your digital modelling skills to create innovative solutions. This is a chance to grow toward Chartership while shaping high-profile developments in a supportive, inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead a project team to deliver structural design packages
• Prepare detailed structural calculations, specifications and drawings across all materials
• Utilise structural design software and BIM workflows to coordinate projects
• Collaborate with colleagues from multiple disciplines on varied sector projects
• Develop greater autonomy and responsibility as professional skills advance
• Contribute to sustainable, low-carbon design approaches

Key requirements

• MEng accredited (or equivalent) in structural engineering
• Close to or achieved Chartered status with IStructE or ICE
• Consultancy experience with practical project delivery
• Strong IT and BIM-enabled workflow experience
• Proficiency with structural design software (Robot, Tekla, TEDDS) and BIM 360; familiarity with parametric design tools
• Ability to deliver creative design solutions in steel, reinforced concrete and masonry
• Strong communication skills and initiative in overcoming challenges
