Associate Electrical Engineer (Building Services)

Overview

As an Associate Electrical Engineer at WSP, you will lead the production of detailed electrical designs and performance specifications, with supervision from peers. You will review design programmes, ensure resources meet technical and commercial targets, and supervise others in delivering quality outputs. You will assess project feasibility, mentor staff, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet client expectations. This role sits in our Property and Buildings team, contributing to impactful building services projects.

Responsibilities

• Deliver/lead electrical design work and production of detailed specifications under peer review
• Review design programmes and allocate resources to meet technical and commercial targets
• Supervise detailed designs and mentor/lead others in the function
• Assess project feasibility for the discipline and lead feasibility studies
• Engage with clients, contractors and design teams in technical discussions and coordination
• Provide training and mentoring to staff

Key requirements

• Proven track record delivering UK Building Services projects in scale and sector
• Strong client, contractor and design-team engagement skills
• Ability to sketch and communicate technical detail graphically to professionals and clients
• Solid understanding of regulations applicable to electrical design and demonstrated via calculations
• Experience with electrical design software packages AMTECH or Electrical OM
• Experience with Revit MEP or other 3D design software
• Eligibility to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC)
