Overview
As Commercial Manager you drive P&L across broker panels, leading a team of underwriters to grow profitability and portfolio quality. You’ll shape broker strategies, foster strong market relationships, and uphold underwriting discipline with a cross-regional operating rhythm. Responsibilities
- Develop and execute broker strategies and business plans to drive growth and portfolio performance across assigned broker panels
- Lead broker engagement and relationship management to deliver compelling broker and customer propositions
- Drive team engagement, capability development and performance management to sustain high performance
- Ensure compliance with policies, standards and regulatory requirements; identify opportunities to improve customer outcomes and operational effectiveness
- Resolve complex trading and underwriting issues and escalate strategic matters as needed
- Maintain consistent operating rhythm across Regions and share insights to align delivery and underwriting excellence
- Contribute to the Commercial Manager community of practice to promote collaboration and best practices
- Champion continuous improvement and foster innovation within the team
Key requirements
- Extensive experience in Commercial Lines underwriting and broker trading with proven P&L delivery
- Proven people leadership, supervisory experience, and ability to build high-performing teams
- Advanced leadership and people management skills
- Solid understanding of processes and ability to apply judgment within policies
- Excellent communication and influencing skills; effective stakeholder engagement
- Problem-solving and decision-making within defined parameters
- Digital fluency and ability to use planning/monitoring tools
- Professional certifications may be advantageous
