Overview
In this role you will lead the local delivery of the Zero Harm strategy, providing trusted HS&E guidance to project teams and collaborating with clients, regulators and partners. You will review risk-based service levels, conduct site inspections, and investigate incidents to drive improvement. You will work with design and engineering to reduce risk and contribute HS&E responses to bids and proposals. You will mentor colleagues and promote a culture of safety across the HS&E community. This is an opportunity to shape safety outcomes on major construction projects and support national rail infrastructure.

Responsibilities
- Lead local delivery of Zero Harm strategy with credible leadership
- Provide practical HS&E support and technical advice to project teams
- Build relationships with internal teams, clients, regulators and partners
- Agree and review risk-based service levels to ensure compliance
- Carry out site inspections, document findings and identify risks and improvement opportunities
- Support investigations into accidents, incidents and near misses
- Collaborate with design/engineering to eliminate or reduce HS&E risk
- Prepare high-quality HS&E responses to bids, proposals and pre-qualification questionnaires
- Challenge current practices, share successes, and mentor colleagues
Key requirements
- Relevant Health & Safety qualification and Level 6 or equivalent
- Chartered IOSH membership or active progress towards it
- Strong understanding of UK health and safety regulatory framework
- Ability to influence, engage and communicate at all levels
- Experience in project planning, management and budgeting
- Competence in incident investigation and clear HS&E reporting
- Broad experience in complex construction or civil engineering projects
