Senior Civil Engineer (Water / AMP8)

Overview

In this Principal Civil Engineer role, you lead delivery across wastewater, water treatment, sewerage and water networks within the Regulated Water Asset Design team for UK and international projects. You’ll steer multi-disciplinary teams, shape service delivery, and drive innovative, digital solutions aligned with Future Ready and Net Zero goals. You’ll build strong client relationships and mentor engineers while expanding the team and pursuing growth opportunities across the WSP network.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of project delivery including health & safety, technical quality, schedule and budget
• Manage multi-disciplinary teams
• Shape service delivery and identify opportunities to deliver additional services
• Build relationships with clients to ensure outcomes and satisfaction
• Contribute to innovative approaches, new services and digital products
• Contribute to Future Ready and Net Zero initiatives
• Act as ambassador for best practice within the Asset Design team and client initiatives
• Undertake bid preparation, resource and budget development
• Line manage and support graduate engineers and degree apprentices
• Contribute to recruitment and growth of the civil engineering team
• Continue development of technical, managerial and leadership skills

Key requirements

• A degree in Civil Engineering
• Chartered status, or significant progression towards ICE or CIWEM
• Experience in managing engineering design teams comprising civil engineers and other disciplines
• Experience delivering projects to defined budget and schedule
• Acted in a checking or technical approval role on linear civil engineering infrastructure projects or industrial/process design
• Experience mentoring or coaching junior civil engineering staff
• Client-facing experience
