Overview

In this role you will lead risk management for a Nuclear Power Station project, ensuring robust risk and opportunity data, clear reporting, and proactive analysis to support decision making. You will partner with IPC and project controls to align risk insights with schedule and cost. The position emphasizes safety culture and regulatory context in a high-stakes environment. You will shape risk processes, train teams, and provide trusted inputs to senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Be the risk management face for the nominated programme/area, ensuring proper steps to identify, analyse, respond to and manage risk outputs
  • Maintain risk and opportunity data in the risk software (e.g., ARM) and assure timely delivery of risk reports
  • Review and challenge significant issues impacting programme or area objectives
  • Support issue and opportunity reviews, workshops, and scenario planning
  • Analyze risk data and connect it to project controls and schedule/cost estimates
  • Prioritise uncertainties to support decision making and maintain a comprehensive risk portfolio
  • Collaborate with IPC and Tier 1 Contractors to assess contractor-held risks and opportunities
  • Identify enhancements to risk management procedures, reporting, and tools
  • Produce and present accurate project controls information at reviews and boards
  • Lead risk software training and propose improvements to training programs

Key requirements

  • Desirable degree in project management, project controls, engineering or related field
  • Industry-recognised project controls or risk management qualifications (e.g., Management of Risk Practitioner, APM Risk Level 2)
  • Demonstrated expertise in risk management and project controls, with tools and techniques to deliver insights
  • Experience in a project management environment; construction experience is desirable
  • Experience in the Nuclear Industry or other highly regulated industry
  • Ability to deliver concise risk insights to enable evidence-based decisions
  • Understanding of integrated risk with cost, schedule and change
  • Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving, and stakeholder communication
  • Ability to facilitate risk discussions with executives and directors
  • Excellent communication to both technical and non-technical senior audiences
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
