Overview
In this role you join a Cardiff employment team to handle a mix of contentious and non-contentious matters for diverse clients. You will manage a varied caseload, support Employment Tribunal litigation, draft key documents, and advise on contracts, policies, and HR processes. The role offers exposure to strategic dispute management, high-quality advisory work, and a collaborative, supportive culture. Responsibilities
- Manage and assist on contentious employment matters, including Employment Tribunal litigation from instruction to conclusion
- Draft pleadings, manage disclosure, and prepare witness statements
- Advise on discrimination, whistleblowing, unfair/constructive dismissal, equal pay, breach of contract, and redundancy disputes
- Provide advocacy support at preliminary hearings and settlement discussions
- Offer strategic guidance on disputes, risk management, and settlement strategy
- Draft, negotiate, and advise on employment contracts, service agreements, policies and handbooks
- Assist with internal HR processes (disciplinary, grievance, performance, capability) and restructuring/redundancy exercises
- Support corporate transactions with due diligence, warranties, indemnities, and TUPE advice
- Assist with investigations involving disciplinary, grievance or whistleblowing issues
Key requirements
- Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with 2–5 years PQE
- Experience across both contentious and non-contentious employment law
- Strong drafting experience (contracts, policies, settlement agreements)
- Experience on Employment Tribunal matters from start to finish
- Excellent knowledge of UK employment legislation and case law
- Ability to deliver clear, concise and commercially focused advice
- Strong analytical, drafting and problem solving skills
- Confidence handling complex or sensitive matters
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to build rapport and deliver high quality client service
