Overview

In this role you will provide commercially minded legal advice across contracts, partnerships, fundraising, governance, data protection and regulatory compliance within a national charity. You’ll advise senior stakeholders and support development of innovative programmes while helping to manage legal risk. You will draft and negotiate commercial and fundraising agreements, grant contracts, and ensure governance and data protection best practices. You will deputise for the Legal Director & Company Secretary and act as a trusted legal partner across directorates. Responsibilities

  • Advising on structuring, negotiation and management of commercial and partnership agreements
  • Drafting and negotiating fundraising and sponsorship arrangements
  • Providing legal support on grant funding programmes and related contracts
  • Advising on governance, compliance and company secretarial matters
  • Supporting data protection compliance and embedding best practices across the organisation
  • Developing policies, guidance and training for colleagues
  • Building relationships with stakeholders across directorates as a trusted legal partner
  • Deputising for the Legal Director & Company Secretary when required

Key requirements

  • Qualified solicitor in England & Wales with 5+ years’ PQE (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts
  • Ability to give pragmatic, solutions‑focused advice to non‑legal stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience developing guidance, policies and training materials
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage a varied workload
  • Collaborative and adaptable mindset with interest in mission‑led organisations
  • Experience in charity, healthcare, public sector or not‑for‑profit environments (advantageous)
