Overview

Barron’s seeks a high-energy reporter in London to cover breaking corporate, economic, and market news with an investor-focused lens. You will produce timely market commentary, earnings and macro updates, and thoughtful enterprise pieces, often under tight deadlines. You’ll collaborate across teams to translate complex financial data into clear insights for readers. This role offers impact through shaping coverage of U.S. equities and major market events from the London bureau.

Responsibilities

• Navigate and explain earnings reports and financial updates; write market commentary and newsletters
• Analyze corporate balance sheets and apply valuations to develop angles
• Explain business news in simple language through an investor lens
• Use audience data to assess story relevance for readers
• Generate quick angles and ideas in response to news and meet urgent deadlines
• Maintain familiarity with U.S. markets and companies

Key requirements

• Three years of reporting experience at a major news organization or finance background
• Understanding of financial markets, business and economics
• Excellent communication, emotional intelligence and judgment
• Knowledge of SEO best practices and ability to craft catchy headlines and leads
• Calm under pressure
• Collaborative, diplomatic approach and decisive in fast scenarios
• Strong deadline-driven writing skills
• Note: office-based at least 3 days a week
