Overview

As a Senior/Principal Engineer at WSP, you will lead civil and bridge engineering delivery, ensuring quality on time and budget while mentoring junior staff. You’ll work on bridge design and management across the UK and overseas, with opportunities to influence feasibility, schemes, and cost estimates. You join a large Civil and Bridge Engineering team delivering diverse rail and highways projects for high-profile clients. You’ll drive innovation in design and supervision of structures within a collaborative, inclusive culture.

Responsibilities

• Bridge design and management for UK and overseas projects
• Bridge strengthening, repairs, inspections and assessments
• General civil and structural engineering support to other teams
• Feasibility studies and options appraisals
• Preparation of documents, reports, H&S risk assessments, scheme designs and drawings, feasibility studies and outline cost estimates
• Preparation of fee estimates
• Supervision of junior team members and CAD technicians

Key requirements

• Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer
• Experience in bridge design, maintenance and assessment (construction sites and design office)
• Project management experience on bridge projects
• Knowledge of design, maintenance and supervision of structures with track record of innovation
• DMRB and MCDHW knowledge related to structural schemes
• Experience with Eurocodes in bridge design
• Experience of steel, reinforced and prestressed concrete bridge structures
• Experience with LUSAS, Superstress and SAM; grillage and space frame analysis
