Legal Support Specialist – Technology, Intellectual Property & Data Privacy

Overview

In this Legal Support Specialist role, you provide hands-on legal assistance across technology, IP, cybersecurity, data privacy, and AI-related matters within Citi’s Technology, Operations & Privacy Legal team. You will support contract lifecycle activities, patent/trademark docketing, and incident response coordination, enabling compliant, timely handling of complex tech transactions in financial services. You’ll work closely with attorneys, contributing to regulatory alignment and efficient operations. This is a fast-paced, cross-functional role at a global bank, offering exposure to cutting-edge tech law and new technologies.

Responsibilities

• Deliver legal support across technology transactions, IP, cybersecurity, data privacy, and AI-related matters
• Manage patent and trademark docketing, clearance, renewals, and enforcement support
• Review marketing content for proper trademark usage to protect IP assets
• Create, maintain, and track legal documents and contract templates (e.g., NDAs, trial agreements)
• Assist in managing responses to information security incidents and data privacy events
• Conduct legal research on regulatory, legislative, and industry developments in tech, privacy, and IP law
• Coordinate team projects, prepare reports, and manage billing processes

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent university-level qualification
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in a legal environment
• Ability to draft, review, and manage legal documents with high accuracy
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
• Familiarity with professional legal documentation standards and independent work capability
