Overview
In this role you drive end-to-end procurement for print and paper, shaping strategic sourcing across multiple regions. You will anchor the global central procurement team, delivering cost reductions through category intelligence and SAP/Ariba-enabled processes. You collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to optimize supplier performance and negotiate favorable terms. This position offers impact at scale within a renowned research publisher, with hybrid London-based work and travel up to 20%.
Responsibilities
- Manage relationships with key offset, digital print, and paper suppliers to build long-term partnerships
- Provide guidance on print and paper purchasing to internal/external stakeholders
- Design and implement best-in-class sourcing strategies for printing category to identify savings
- Develop and manage RFQ/RFP/RFI processes and negotiate long-term pricing and contracts
- Utilise procurement tools for supplier management, contract negotiations and performance tracking
- Assess suppliers for suitability, sustainability, and production requirements
- Monitor market trends, regulatory developments, and printing/paper standards
- Ensure supplier performance and quality align with contract terms
- Travel up to 20% to supplier sites and for business needs
- Lead and supervise procurement project teams within the printing category
- Implement Springer Nature Group procurement policies and tools
- Collaborate across cross-functional teams to align on procurement objectives
- Provide change management leadership in procurement initiatives
- Drive continuous improvements in KPIs and supplier performance
- Engage in stakeholder networking to influence decision-making
Key requirements
- Extensive procurement experience in Global Print and Paper
- Strong business and commercial mindset with excellent negotiation skills
- Demonstrated category management, strategic sourcing and supplier management
- Effective communicator with analytical, project management and problem-solving abilities
- Stakeholder management and networking skills
- Ability to manage multiple procurement projects in parallel
- Experience working with cross-functional teams in complex, changing environments
- Experience in change management
- Desirable: German language skills (bonus)
