Overview
As Senior Mechatronics Engineer, you will shape the next generation of RTS systems from early research to full-scale demonstrators. You will work within a multi-disciplinary R&D team to translate ideas into automated, lights-out manufacturing solutions for composites. You’ll drive TRL progression, implement robust hardware and software integration, and support commissioning at multiple sites. This role offers hands-on engineering with practical design work, contributing to iCOMAT’s mission to revolutionise lightweight manufacturing at scale.

Responsibilities
- Lead work packages to develop core technology bricks for RTS systems
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary engineers to deliver next-gen technologies
- Advance technology readiness from TRL 2 to TRL 6+
- Solve complex engineering problems with novel solutions
- Analyze data to inform decisions
- Develop end-to-end, fully automated RTS production capability
- Support commissioning at sister sites and customer facilities
- Contribute to PLC, robotics, and SCADA code and improve its reliability
- Maintain a well-structured, commented code base
Key requirements
- Bachelor in Mechanical/Mechatronics or closely related field
- Minimum three years in an R&D or similar environment
- Experience in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Systems Engineering, Robotics, or Controls & Automation
- Strong knowledge of mechanical design and systems engineering
- Understanding of TRL/MRL navigation
- Proficiency in data collection, analysis and validation
- Time management and ability to lead cross-functional teams within budget
- Working knowledge of industry standards
