Overview

As a Staff Product Engineer in Intercom’s AI Group, you build the systems powering our flagship AI products and collaborate closely with ML scientists and product teams. You translate proof-of-concept models into robust, scalable features deployed to customers in weeks. You shape the AI-powered product experience by partnering with cross-functional teams and elevating technical standards. This role offers high impact in productizing ML for real-world use and shaping customer-centric AI solutions.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale systems powering Intercom’s AI products, primarily in ML Python stack, with occasional Rails work
• Collaborate with ML Scientists to turn proof-of-concept code into production-ready solutions
• Partner with product teams to design and refine AI-powered customer experiences
• Contribute across all software development phases: ideation, prototyping, implementation, testing
• Help hire, mentor, and develop other engineers; raise technical standards and operational excellence

Key requirements

• 10+ years of experience shipping high-quality products
• Strong fundamentals in a high-level language (e.g., Ruby, Python, JavaScript)
• Willingness to learn ML and contribute in ML-focused environments
• Proven ability to deliver impact and work effectively in cross-functional settings
• Bachelor in Computer Science, Maths or Statistics (or related discipline)
