Overview
In this role you lead the Information Advantage (IA) capability within Leonardo UK, shaping strategy, technology roadmaps and R&D investments to deliver advanced sensing, fusion and battlespace intelligence. You align engineering delivery with product development, drive business growth with government and industry partners, and manage IP and solutions reviews. This is a strategically-focused, cross-functional leadership role with a strong emphasis on technical direction, stakeholder engagement and market-driven innovation.

Responsibilities
- Own and maintain the IA product business plan
- Develop technical value propositions and guide R&D investment in IA
- Provide strategic technical direction to R&D activities and manage resource constraints
- Lead technology route maps aligned with operational needs and market demands
- Coordinate with engineering delivery teams and product owners for coherence between technology maturation and product development
- Support business development, strategy and bid activities, building government/industry/academic relationships
- Chair solution reviews to ensure customer requirements are met
- Identify and prioritise R&D in emerging technologies and manage IP/trade secrets/patents
Key requirements
- Experience working within defence software/cyber
- Software R&D management and innovation including strategy development and roadmaps
- Government-funded R&D, rapid prototyping and test & evaluation activities
- Ability to motivate and influence multi-discipline teams
- Experience formulating business plans and commercial acumen for opportunities while protecting IP
- Ability to articulate strategies, complex concepts and solution design
- Willingness to travel to customer and partner locations in the UK and overseas
