In this role you will lead major groundwater and water resources projects within the Catchment Science team, shaping groundwater capability and mentoring junior hydrogeologists. You’ll drive technical directions, collaborate across disciplines, and strengthen client relationships while growing a robust project pipeline. You will contribute to innovation and strategic delivery across the Sustainable Water Management Consulting group, with opportunities for future leadership in the next five years. Responsibilities
- Direct and deliver groundwater and water resources projects, including modelling, groundwater flooding, monitoring, water quality, hydrogeological conceptualisation and EIA
- Lead and develop junior to mid-level hydrogeologists; design structured training and succession plans
- Shape technical direction through collaboration with senior leaders across Sustainable Water Management and Ground and Water specialists
- Prepare high-quality proposals, identify opportunities, and support framework delivery to grow project pipelines
- Collaborate across disciplines and with international teams to deliver integrated project outcomes
- Support client needs, win work, and maintain strong relationships for repeat business
Key requirements
- Strong experience in groundwater and water environment assessment, including modelling, EIA, WFD, conceptualisation and site investigation
- Strong understanding of UK hydrogeology and water management regulatory framework
- Proven ability to lead projects from inception to delivery with financial and programme management experience
- Framework delivery experience desirable
- Track record of client-focused proposal development and securing repeat business
- Excellent interpersonal, influencing, and development skills for junior colleagues
- Strong report writing, analytical and technical review capabilities; problem-solving in hydrogeology/hydrology
- Chartered status (or equivalent senior standing) and MSc Hydrogeology with BSc in a related discipline
