Overview
You will lead and deliver road safety and traffic engineering schemes for a long-standing Shropshire Council contract, shaping safer, more efficient transport outcomes. In a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team, you drive design, governance and client liaison to meet timelines and budgets. You’ll mentor junior staff and contribute to technical excellence, with opportunities to influence regional transport planning and community impact.

Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of general traffic engineering, road safety and active travel schemes
- Prepare and review reports, drawings, schedules and other documents per local procedures
- Own the financial performance of projects
- Perform technical review and checking of design deliverables
- Collaborate with other disciplines and the Client team
- Contribute to technical excellence and innovation within the team
- Potential for line management and mentoring opportunities
Key requirements
- Track record of leading on Road Safety and Traffic Engineering projects
- Familiarity with TSRGD, DMRB, Manual for Streets and Traffic Signs Manual
- Experience writing and implementing traffic regulation orders under The Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984
- Preparing and reviewing technical outputs (drawings, reports, specifications)
- Working knowledge of health and safety legislation and CDM responsibilities
- Experience managing project timelines, budgets and quality
- Effective communication with Clients, Contractors and key stakeholders
- Delegation of tasks to Early Career Professionals and Graduates
