Overview

In this Senior Cost Engineer role, you lead cost control across multi-project programs in the Energy & Natural Resources division. You’ll shape cost strategies, develop robust cost controls, and deliver accurate forecasts to drive client decisions. You collaborate with cross-functional teams to align budget, schedule, and risk, contributing to sustainable, value-driven project delivery. Responsibilities

  • Tailor and implement cost control approaches to meet client needs
  • Establish and maintain cost control systems for budgets, commitments, expenditures and forecasts
  • Develop and maintain PMB and support change control with Integrated Project Team
  • Create CBS and align WBS with budgets to track costs
  • Map cost estimates to WBS and align budgets with Work Packages and Control Accounts
  • Ensure adherence to NEC or FIDIC processes for cost data management and reporting
  • Lead accruals to reflect ACWP accurately and timely
  • Support change process with cost data for notes and forecasts
  • Update forecasts for ETC and ensure proper cost capture via WOs, POs and subcontracts
  • Align POs with CBS for clear Cost Performance Indices and monitor variances with supply chain
  • Interact with management on cost control updates in a complex project/programme
  • Provide leadership to develop delivery and cost control teams
  • Demonstrate stakeholder management and conflict navigation

Key requirements

  • Professional project controls experience in cost engineering/control across project lifecycles
  • Strong understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM), progress reporting, forecasting and analysis
  • Strong communication and leadership with ability to influence and develop a diverse team
  • BPSS level security clearance eligibility
  • Membership of professional body (e.g., APM, PMI)
  • Experience leading Cost Control Assurance activities
  • Understanding of how Scheduling, Risk Management, Reporting, Change Control interact with Cost Control
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to make risk-based decisions with uncertain parameters
  • Strong leadership to mobilise and lead by example
  • Ability to manage stakeholders and navigate conflicts
