Reinsurance Broker – International Treaty Associate Director

Overview

In this role you help grow Howden Re’s International Treaty business by securing strong client placements, handling proposals, and managing complex reinsurance accounts. You will work closely with clients and markets to ensure optimal coverage, pricing, and service across renewals and mid-term needs. The position supports strategic growth, mentors junior colleagues, and represents Howden Re in a professional, client-centric manner. Responsibilities

• Design optimal reinsurance broking solutions
• Negotiate with markets for quality coverage and price
• Create and review reinsurance documentation for clients
• Mentor and support junior team members
• Coordinate client projects before and after renewals and for tenders
• Build and maintain relationships with clients and underwriters
• Stay informed on market trends to improve service delivery
• Represent Howden Re with top-tier reinsurance services
• Develop and implement team strategies
• Identify opportunities to expand the portfolio
• Support or manage client renewals
• Participate in management meetings and contribute to strategy
• Oversee administrative and processing tasks to maintain service standards
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures

Key requirements

• Proven experience in reinsurance broking, focusing on P&C reinsurance
• Advanced understanding of renewal and production cycle for clients and prospects
• Advanced understanding of reinsurance products mechanics and interest in optimisation
• In-depth knowledge of product areas and related wordings
• Deep understanding of reinsurance market dynamics and product knowledge
• Strong customer focus and communication skills
• High numeracy, literacy, and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
• Relevant qualifications (ACII, FCA Level 1 preferred)
