Overview

Estates Operations Manager (Electrical) leads the strategic electrical compliance for the Trust, reporting to the Head of Estates. You will analyse infrastructure risks, implement mitigations, and keep governance policies current. You will coordinate Estates compliance, advise Authorised Persons, and provide expert guidance to stakeholders. The role drives productivity and quality of workmanship across multi-site operations within a major NHS capital programme. You enable safe, compliant, efficient estate services.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage compliance against current and forthcoming legislation (EHS, environmental, estates-related)
  • Act as Electrical operational lead for Estates H&S, Risk and HTM Committees; prepare papers
  • Provide assurance reports to Trust Committees (Infection Prevention, Operational Risk, Health/Safety/Fire)
  • Act as the Trust’s Responsible Person for operational electrical compliance and other AP duties
  • Contribute to the Premises Assurance Model; ensure data accuracy/auditability in CAFM
  • Primary point of contact for colleagues and external bodies on electrical compliance
  • Support Lord Carter productivity initiative; produce performance reports and drive continuous improvement
  • Coordinate training needs and provide expert guidance to APs and stakeholders

Key requirements

  • Electrical engineering degree or equivalent experience
  • IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent health and safety training
  • Continuing professional development
  • Experience in management level within operational Estates
  • Experience leading teams and budgets in engineering/operational context
  • Experience with multi-site operations and contractor management
  • Experience completing business cases and delivering complex maintenance programmes
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering, M&E regulations, CDM/IPAC requirements
  • Leadership and team management

  • Electrical engineering subject matter expertise
  • Knowledge of M&E and building regulations; contract management with contractors/consultants
