In this role you drive the delivery of airfield civil engineering projects within WSP’s aviation team, focusing on resilience, sustainability and smart technologies. You will lead design teams, manage risks and ensure projects meet cost, quality and schedule targets, while growing client relationships and mentoring staff. You’ll work across UK and international projects, balancing technical leadership with commercial performance. Responsibilities

  • Own the successful delivery of airfield civil engineering projects
  • Lead and coordinate design teams and communicate with all parties
  • Identify and manage design risks
  • Plan and monitor project performance across the lifecycle
  • Ensure deliverables meet cost/quality/time targets
  • Provide check/review of technical work for quality standards
  • Act as role model, line manager and mentor within the team
  • Champion health and safety practices including safety in design and CDM compliance
  • Respond to client directions professionally and develop lasting client relationships

Key requirements

  • University degree relevant to civil engineering, construction, design or related discipline
  • Chartered or Incorporated status (MICE, MCIHT or equivalent) or equivalent demonstrable experience (preferred but not essential)
  • Experience of large, technically complex multi-disciplinary airfield civil engineering projects
  • Understanding of client/business needs when delivering major projects with focus on margin and contract compliance
  • Knowledge of construction contracts (e.g., NEC) and processes (preferable but not essential)
