Security Architect

Overview

As a Security Architect (Consultant) at Kainos, you design and apply robust security practices across platforms and services. You collaborate with Agile teams to embed security throughout the software development lifecycle. You mentor engineers, lead a small team, and provide direction on challenging security problems. The role combines hands-on architecture with knowledge sharing for customers and colleagues. You will help shape secure, scalable solutions in a people-first, collaborative culture.

Responsibilities

• Design and apply secure practices for cloud services and solutions
• Collaborate with Agile delivery teams to embed security during development
• Learn, apply new security technologies and share knowledge with customers and colleagues
• Coach and develop a small team, guiding performance and career growth
• Provide leadership to solve complex security challenges

Key requirements

• Experience securing design and delivery of new cloud services
• Ability to identify security issues and propose balanced mitigations
• Knowledge of security standards/regulations (NCSC, ISO, SoC, NIST, PCI, GDPR)
• Deep architectural experience in AI/Data/Cloud/M365/Application/DevSecOps security
• Experience in application/software or infrastructure architecture
• Strong communication to technical and non-technical audiences
• Mentoring experience for engineers/architects
• Experience testing security of software/infrastructure with appropriate tools
• Experience with CI/CD and Continuous Security practices
• Understanding of network security (OSI/TCP-IP), web app security (OWASP), cryptographic controls (PKI/TLS)
• Ability to mentor and develop team members
