Overview
As an Electrical Design Engineer at AECOM, you will contribute to energy infrastructure projects across private, industrial, transmission/distribution, and renewables sectors. You will join a multidisciplinary design team responsible for practical electrical design solutions throughout the project lifecycle. You’ll address MV/LV design, protection, control, and interface with SCADA and power systems studies. Responsibilities
- Carry out Medium Voltage and Low Voltage design work to DNO standards
- Provide Open and Closed Ring and Radial Feeder supply network solutions
- Intake and Distribution Substation Layout design (Medium Voltage and Low Voltage)
- Conduct primary plant and equipment design (Medium and Low Voltage)
- Produce secondary protection and control solution with diagrams
- Cable sizing calculations, routing, section, and termination drawings (Medium and Low Voltage)
- Undertake electrical system, earthing grid design and modelling, including touch and step potentials
- Produce interface designs for SCADA, auxiliary supply and COP metering
- Provide MV and LV standby and back-up power supply changeover solutions
- Write technical specifications and support procurement
- Liaise with external suppliers and clients
- Input into electrical system studies for MV and LV network modelling and verification
- Demonstrate understanding of Arc-flash/Blast requirements and mitigation
- Review design submissions within the team against the client scope
- Participate in design review processes with Team Lead Verifier
Key requirements
- Degree or relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering
- Knowledge of British and DNO design standards
- Proven track record as Trainee/Assistant Electrical Engineer or Graduate Training in Energy/Power Sector
- Understanding of functional characteristics of Power Systems
- Ability to work with internal and external parties in a collaborative culture
