Transport Operations Manager

Overview

In this Transport Operations Manager role you will oversee a large delivery operation in a high-paced distribution setting, ensuring safe, efficient and compliant service to Central London. You’ll lead a sizable transport team, drive performance improvements and embed a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Responsibilities

• Manage ~100 drivers and multiple delivery routes
• Ensure safe, compliant, and efficient deliveries into Central London
• Lead change initiatives to boost performance, service levels and efficiency
• Coach and develop a high-performing transport team
• Oversee transport KPIs, costs, productivity and delivery performance
• Ensure compliance with transport legislation, policies and health and safety standards
• Collaborate with warehouse, commercial and senior management to optimise end-to-end operations
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce costs and enhance customer satisfaction

Key requirements

• Valid Transport Manager CPC – essential
• Experience managing a substantial transport operation (ideally in foodservice, FMCG, wholesale, logistics or distribution)
• Experience overseeing ~100 drivers or similar complex operation
• Track record of implementing successful change initiatives
• Experience coaching and developing teams
• Strong knowledge of transport compliance, planning and performance management
• Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to influence stakeholders and drive continuous improvement
• Proactive, hands-on approach in a fast-paced environment
