Overview

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer on Stantec’s Water team, you will lead mechanical design for water and wastewater projects, steering packages from feasibility to construction support. You will mentor engineers, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and deliver innovative, sustainable solutions for AMP8 programmes in the North West. The role combines technical leadership with client-facing responsibilities to ensure high-quality outputs. Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design activities across water and wastewater treatment works, pumping stations and related infrastructure
  • Produce and review mechanical calculations, specifications, reports and engineering documentation
  • Deliver projects from feasibility and concept design through detailed design, construction support and commissioning
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, efficient and sustainable solutions
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and contribute to technical excellence
  • Develop strong relationships with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders to ensure project success

Key requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) and chartered or incorporated engineer status or actively pursuing
  • Experience delivering mechanical design within the UK water sector or regulated infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes and associated mechanical systems
  • Experience delivering technical design packages across multidisciplinary projects
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers
  • Strong organisational skills to manage multiple priorities
