Overview

In this role you deliver specialist mental health interventions within the prison setting, collaborating with the In-Reach Team and wider services to reduce admissions and support early discharge. You will manage a challenging caseload, provide both individual and group interventions, and ensure continuity of care across prison and NHS/community pathways. You contribute to integrated care plans and work with CMHTs to maintain CPA processes. Responsibilities

  • deliver high-intensity specialist interventions and complex case management to reduce length of stay and support continuity of care
  • conduct robust assessments, screenings, and timely interventions for offenders, including those with learning disabilities
  • liaise and coordinate with CMHTs and other specialist services for integrated care and through-the-gate arrangements
  • manage waiting times and contribute to service performance targets
  • provide supervision, mentorship, and leadership for junior staff
  • maintain confidential electronic clinical records and ensure information sharing complies with policy
  • communicate effectively in complex situations and environments

Key requirements

  • Registered Mental Nurse (RMN) with current UK NMC registration
  • minimum 2 years of experience
  • forensic/prison experience desirable
  • experience with electronic health records (e.g., Systm One) and IT literacy
  • willingness to undertake National Security Vetting
  • ability to work in a security-conscious, unpredictable prison setting
