Associate Director, Algorithm and Artificial Intelligence Assurance

Overview

In this role, you will lead and grow a London-based Algorithm and AI Assurance team, delivering high-impact assurance across clients and technologies. You’ll shape the approach to AI governance, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance within a fast-evolving landscape. You’ll mentor a team, manage complex engagements, and build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders. Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of Algorithm and AI specialists (≈20)
• Provide guidance across Algorithm and AI Assurance focus areas
• Assess compliance of large technology platforms with digital regulations (DMA, DSA, EU AI Act)
• Conduct AI/algorithm control reviews and testing using Deloitte methodologies
• Develop innovative assurance approaches for emerging AI risks
• Build client relationships; lead meetings, proposals, and business development
• Engage with stakeholders across the UK AI ecosystem to shape AI assurance
• Contribute to market activation and opportunities, including proposals and events
• Mentor junior colleagues and foster an inclusive team environment
• Ensure deliverables meet Deloitte’s quality and risk standards
• Collaborate across service lines for integrated client solutions
• Contribute to shaping the future vision of the AI assurance practice
• Lead elements of market growth and development of the team

Key requirements

• Extensive knowledge of AI/algorithm regulatory landscape (EU AI Act, DMA, DSA, etc.)
• Ability to interpret regulations and advise on compliance strategies
• Proven ability to lead complex risk and control assessments in IT/data environments
• Strong written and verbal communication; capable of reporting to senior stakeholders
• Experience managing multi-faceted projects including budgeting and risk mitigation
• Experience in business development and building client relationships
• Mentor and develop junior team members
• Advanced analytical skills; proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word
• Motivated, independent, proactive problem-solver
• Ability to communicate complex concepts simply
