Financial Controls Accountant – Group Finance

Overview

In this Group Finance role you will help document, test and report on the Group’s financial control environment to ensure compliance, strength, resilience and efficiency. You will work with the Head of Financial Reporting & Controls to deliver year-end statutory statements and support the external audit process. The role focuses on maintaining an internal control risk register, reviewing controls, and driving improvements through cross-team collaboration. You will contribute to systems and reporting developments that support KPI measurement and financial control requirements. This position offers the opportunity to shape financial controls across the Group and demonstrate impact during audit

Responsibilities

• Document and maintain the internal financial control risk register for the Group (including Taxation)
• Support onboarding of subsidiary finance teams to the control register
• Perform routine reviews of financial controls and identify opportunities to strengthen
• Report findings on control effectiveness to senior management
• Promote best practices in financial controls across teams
• Contribute to systems development related to financial reporting, KPIs, and controls
• Assist in the preparation of annual statutory financial statements and external audit
• Handle ad-hoc analysis and reporting tasks for the Group team

Key requirements

• Recognised accountancy qualification
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to organise and prioritise under tight deadlines
• Sound knowledge of financial controls environments
• Excellent Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
• Power BI knowledge is desirable but not essential
• Strong communication skills with ability to engage stakeholders and produce clear reports
