Senior Project Manager- Transmission & Distribution

Overview

As Senior Project Manager for our strategic energy client, you will lead major electricity transmission initiatives from early development through delivery in a regulated environment. You’ll coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, manage time, cost and quality, and ensure HSE compliance across the lifecycle. This role blends client-facing leadership with hands-on delivery to unlock project value and drive safe, reliable outcomes. Responsibilities

• Manage programme, budget and risks across the project lifecycle
• Provide regular updates on HSE performance, milestones, risks, opportunities and financials
• Develop early lifecycle activities including optioneering and consenting
• Oversee design stage reviews for SHESQ, risks, deliverability and safety performance
• Support tendering and contracting strategies; input to Scope, Site and Works Information
• Lead project delivery, safety by design, commissioning, scheme closure and post-completion requirements
• Act as interface between project and internal/ external teams and stakeholders
• Coordinate contractors and delivery interfaces to meet time, cost and specification with minimal disruption
• Manage complex third-party issues, land, consents, and community stakeholders
• Chair monthly progress/cost reviews and attend weekly site meetings
• Lead, coach and develop team members; influence decisions and drive improvements
• Present clearly and communicate confidently to stakeholders

Key requirements

• Experience in electrical infrastructure projects
• Knowledge of relevant legislation for complex projects
• Solid understanding of HS&E management systems and requirements
• Experience in environmental management and control
• Understanding of technical documentation
• Experience in management of NEC contracts in project delivery
• Knowledge of risk management for schedule and cost
• Knowledge of project handover records
• Experience in formal hazard review process
• Understanding of procurement for complex projects
