Structural Director

Overview

As Structural Director you will steer the Central London office of a boutique engineering consultancy, building a capable team and growing the UK client base. You will work closely with an Associate Director to establish the new practice and, over time, collaborate with an international network to drive growth and innovation in structural engineering. The role combines leadership, business development, and technical excellence to deliver high-value projects. Responsibilities

• Lead the London office and build a talented team of engineers and designers
• Grow the UK client base and secure high-value projects
• Partner with an Associate Director to establish the consultancy in the UK
• Drive business growth, client relationships, and strategic direction
• Mentor staff and foster a positive, high-performance work environment
• Apply excellent technical expertise in structural design and engineering
• Utilize latest design tools and sustainable design practices
• Collaborate with an international network of experts

Key requirements

• Proven track record in leading teams and delivering complex, high-profile projects
• Chartered status with IStructE or ICE
• MEng or BEng in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
• Strong client-facing skills and ability to build lasting stakeholder relationships
• Entrepreneurial mindset with drive to grow a new office
• Outstanding communication and organizational skills
• Demonstrated experience mentoring staff and fostering a positive workplace
