Underwriter, North American Binding Authority – SCOR Business Solutions (SBS)

Overview

In this role you manage a portfolio and drive profitable underwriting for SCOR Specialty Insurance. You will develop market share, support client needs with efficient service line wordings, and represent SCOR at industry events. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to enhance SCOR’s market image and contribute to profitable growth. Your work will span negotiations, client and broker relationships, and collaboration with the Global Line Head on growth initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Manage renewals, endorsements, risk, and client interactions including visits and meetings
• Negotiate bespoke wordings for service lines and contracts
• Represent SCOR at international events and client-hosted conferences
• Maintain client and broker relationships and generate new offers aligned with SCOR Roadmap
• Support claims settlement processes and contribute to technical knowledge within the division
• Maintain quotes, risks accepted, and declinatures records; monitor premium income
• Assist Global Line Head with research, development, and reporting on profitable growth areas
• Attend Lloyd’s box submissions to service brokers and endorsements and negotiate policy terms
• Ensure compliance with international licensing requirements for SCOR offices
• Mentor and train team members and promote SCOR underwriting policy
• Leverage spreadsheets and company systems to manage risk and performance

Key requirements

• Established underwriter with several years of direct underwriting experience in the London market or elsewhere
• Proven underwriting skills including wording negotiation
• Established market relationships
• Experience in writing international business
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to lead business and promote underwriting policy
• Proactive and team-oriented with initiative
• Ability to use spreadsheets well and adapt to SCOR’s structure and guidelines
