Overview

As an Associate Cost Manager you will lead cost management across large infrastructure projects from inception to completion, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams and clients in water, environment, highways, rail and power sectors. You’ll drive cost planning, procurement, tendering, value engineering and final accounts, while mentoring junior staff and supporting business development. The role sits within the Buildings & Places Infrastructure team and aligns with AECOM’s mission to deliver a better world through resilient, value-driven projects. You will work in a dynamic, cross-functional environment that emphasizes technical excellence and client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end cost management for projects from inception to completion
  • Perform feasibility and cost planning with minimal supervision
  • Manage contract procurement, tender documentation and value engineering
  • Conduct risk management, cost reporting and final accounts
  • Support junior staff on technically complex projects
  • Develop client relationships and identify new business opportunities
  • Contribute to marketing efforts and director-level engagement
  • Ensure high professional competence and uphold the firm’s profile with clients

Key requirements

  • Significant experience in Cost Management/Quantity Surveying on large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Strong knowledge of NEC4 contracts, especially PSC and ECC
  • Experience in integrated, multi-organisation teams and client-side or colocated work arrangements
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and grow workload
  • Chartered status with RICS, CIOB, RIBA, ICE or equivalent (preferred)
  • Academic background in Quantity Surveying, Construction, Engineering or Project Management (ideally)
