Head of Commercial Finance

Overview

As Head of Commercial Finance, you will lead the commercial finance function to enable growth and scale internationally. You’ll partner with senior leaders to embed disciplined financial practices, optimise systems (Dynamics 365) and improve profitability across projects. This role blends strategic insight with strong governance, shaping the finance function to support the company’s ambitious growth agenda. You’ll lead a high-performing team and champion continuous improvement in a fast-paced, collaborative culture.

Responsibilities

• Support strategy development with financial insight and challenge to investments and assumptions
• Partner with client-facing and technical teams to improve commercial performance and project profitability
• Lead annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting with clear targets for regional and service leaders
• Oversee monthly performance reviews with regional directors, delivering insightful reporting and KPI analysis
• Ensure compliance with regulations and internal policies; lead revenue recognition and contract accounting improvements
• Develop finance capability through coaching, mentoring and succession planning; drive process and system improvements including Dynamics 365

Key requirements

• 15+ years in commercial finance, business partnering or financial leadership
• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent)
• Experience in professional services or consultancy; built environment sector preferred
• Proven track record leading high-performing finance teams and influencing senior stakeholders
