Overview
As a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, you will contribute to teaching, research, and industry collaborations within the College of Science and Engineering. You will help grow undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and support partner sites through a flying faculty arrangement. Your work will connect research to teaching, informing curriculum with current industry practice and sustainability goals. This role offers international collaboration, impactful student development, and opportunities to shape the region’s engineering education and research landscape.
Responsibilities
- Deliver and facilitate teaching across undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional programmes; ensure alignment with quality standards
- Lead and contribute to module/programme design, assessment, and feedback; develop innovative learning environments
- Engage in research activity and publish to enhance the University’s reputation and REF submission
- Develop external links with professional/industrial bodies and support knowledge exchange
- Take on module/programme leadership responsibilities and contribute to validation/accreditation activities
- Provide personal tutoring, pastoral care, and guidance to students; support recruitment and marketing activities
- Develop cross-college collaborations and contribute to admin duties such as timetabling and examinations
- Deliver curriculum components at partner sites (China) as part of flying faculty arrangements and travel overseas as needed
Key requirements
- Good honours degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering
- PhD (or near completion) or equivalent professional achievement; willingness to work towards Fellowship of Advanced HE
- Experience in higher education teaching and quality assurance/validation of modules
- Research activity in Power Electronics Applications, Industrial Electronics, or Sustainable Electrical Power Systems
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and in teams; ability to handle competing priorities
- Digital capability and readiness to use technology-enhanced learning and IT tools
- Knowledge of employability agenda and internationalisation in curriculum
