Overview
In this TPTE Lead role, you’ll steer the Traffic Planning and Traffic Engineering practice across the Prairies and Territories within Stantec’s Infrastructure team. You’ll build and mentor a multidisciplinary team, cultivate client relationships, and guide transportation planning, safety, and multimodal projects across Western and Northern Canada. You’ll lead with technical excellence while aligning with strategic priorities and supporting business development. This position offers meaningful impact through shaping transportation outcomes and team growth in a global engineering firm.
Responsibilities
- Lead and grow the TPTE team across multiple jurisdictions
- Support recruitment, workload planning, and staff development
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive culture and high-quality project delivery
- Provide coaching and career development for direct reports
- Build and maintain client relationships and support business development
- Lead transportation planning, traffic engineering, safety, and multimodal projects
- Contribute to project delivery with discipline lead responsibilities and project controls
- Coordinate with leadership to prioritize projects and develop future leaders
- Forecast workload, manage resources, and plan utilization
- Facilitate team meetings and promote continuous improvement
- Champion HSSE culture and ensure safety remains a priority
- Support quality management, risk management, QA/QC, and design standard improvements
Key requirements
- Demonstrated leadership and ability to coach and develop a team
- Experience in traffic impact assessments, transportation planning, and multimodal planning
- Strong understanding of project delivery: scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, client expectations
- Proposal development, business development, and client relationship management experience
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements across jurisdictions
- Ability to work across multiple offices and geographies while managing priorities
- Strong organizational, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and deliver technically excellent outcomes
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and project management/resource planning tools
- Positive, team-oriented approach in a regional/global context
- Bachelor in Civil Engineering or related field; graduate degree preferred
