Overview
As a Research Engineer at DRW, you join a seasoned systematic research team to advance trading technology. You will help turn research into production, contributing to software, data systems, and quantitative modeling that power trading strategies. You work closely with researchers and traders to design scalable simulations and tools for data exploration and post-trade analysis. This role blends engineering rigor with financial insight, offering hands-on experience in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Implement research studies and simulate trading strategies with researchers
- Design and optimize distributed strategy simulation software
- Develop software for large-scale data acquisition, storage, and visualization
- Create user interfaces for data exploration and post-trade analysis
- Accelerate the research lifecycle from prototype to production
- Evaluate new technologies to improve the tech stack
Key requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
- Excellent software development skills in modern C++ and Python
- Strong understanding of object-oriented design, data structures and algorithms
- Solid foundation in quantitative finance mathematics
- Strong programming skills and ability to communicate and code clearly
- Understanding of computer systems across hardware, OS, memory, and networks
- Experience with multi-threaded applications
- Ability to build software for long-term use and broad adoption
- Proven ability to produce algorithmic code in a fast-paced environment
