Overview

In this senior role, you lead and shape the Ground Engineering team, driving technical development and client relationships to deliver complex geotechnical projects. You will oversee analyses, provide expert advice across the project life cycle, and mentor engineers while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. Your leadership supports ongoing business growth and a strong project delivery pipeline. The role offers impact across high-profile UK and international projects within a global infrastructure firm.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee input, peer review and verification of geotechnical data, analyses, and design calculations
  • Provide consultative advice to external partners across project life cycle
  • Plan and manage geotechnical projects including scheduling, coordination, and budget
  • Provide leadership and development support to the Ground Engineering team
  • Maintain industry presence and build relationships to sustain a project pipeline
  • Lead the delivery of multi-disciplinary projects to internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate with Transport, Water, Energy, Buildings and Places teams on project works and tenders
  • Mentor and support junior team members in their development

Key requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology (2:1) or higher
  • Chartered status
  • Strong knowledge of UK ground conditions and ground investigation practices
  • Demonstrable understanding of current geotechnical design codes, standards and best practices
  • Ability to collaborate closely in project delivery, work winning and client satisfaction
  • Knowledge of ground interpretation/parametric assessment methods for geotechnical design
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Effective networking across local, regional, and national markets to promote the AECOM brand
