Overview
In this role you will lead geotechnical investigations, modelling and design to support a diverse portfolio of infrastructure, regeneration and development projects across Southwest England and Wales. You’ll work within a multidisciplinary team to identify ground-related risks from inception through delivery and provide robust technical guidance. You will develop ground investigation scopes, interpret data, build ground models and prepare high-quality reports and specifications. This is a hands-on senior/lead role with opportunities to mentor others and manage client relationships, within a supportive, growth-focused environment.

Responsibilities
- Plan and manage geotechnical ground investigations and surveys
- Develop ground investigation scopes, specifications and schedules
- Review geological and ground investigation data, borehole logs and lab results
- Peer review Geotechnical Reports and develop robust ground models
- Perform geotechnical analysis and modelling using appropriate software
- Produce Geotechnical Design Reports and technical notes
- Identify and manage ground-related risks with multidisciplinary teams
- Liaise with clients, contractors and external stakeholders
- Support the development of junior geotechnical professionals
- Take technical delivery or project management responsibility depending on experience
Key requirements
- Significant professional experience in geotechnical engineering, engineering geology or geological investigation
- Strong experience planning supervising and interpreting ground investigations
- Experience interpreting data and developing ground models
- Knowledge of geotechnical principles and soil/rock behaviour
- Proficiency in Oasys Pile, ALP PDisp, Rocscience Slide, GEO5 Retaining Wall, AutoCAD and Excel
- Experience with or interest in Plaxis 3D or other FE software is a plus
- Experience producing technical reports (GDRs, Geotechnical Feedback Reports, Technical Notes)
- Strong communication and stakeholder management
