Overview

In this role you support the North America GIM team to deliver employment-based immigration projects for Baker McKenzie offices worldwide. You will handle billable assignments, draft filings, and manage documentation while collaborating with internal teams and third parties. The position sits within ALS GIM and offers exposure to cross-border immigration work in a fast-paced, global firm. You join a diverse, inclusive culture focused on practical legal guidance and efficient service delivery. This is a hands-on role with a clear impact on client matters and knowledge management.

Responsibilities

  • Discharge client assignments defined by GIM partners, focusing on employment-based immigration tasks
  • Edit and maintain billable and knowledge management tools for the E&C group
  • Conduct billable projects solo or in teams
  • Draft and prepare employment-based filings (e.g., H-1B, L-1, I-140, PERM petitions)
  • Communicate with instructing team, other Baker McKenzie teams, and third parties when needed
  • Compile documentation, forms, and filings for client matters
  • Ensure compliance with the firm’s time recording requirements

Key requirements

  • Law graduate with strong academic record (2:1 or above) and minimum 3 A-levels
  • Experience in U.S. immigration law; law firm experience preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks
  • Strong analytical, drafting, proofreading, and prioritization skills
  • Excellent MS Word and Excel skills with experience in document management platforms (e.g., iManage)
  • Strong organizational English writing and communication skills
  • Able to work in both team and independent settings
