Overview

In this role you will build high-performance C++ software and tooling for a leading fintech client operating an ultra-low latency trading environment. You will own production releases, support operations, and help shape the architecture in a fast-paced, open-source–driven setting. You will work with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable solutions and use your Linux and scripting skills to keep systems reliable. This is a tech-forward, production-centric role with opportunities to prototype new technologies and influence platform direction.

Responsibilities

  • Develop tools and websites handling millions of requests per day
  • Own production releases, ensure safe testing and rollout
  • Provide out-of-hours support on a rota basis
  • Work on Linux command line tasks and basic system administration
  • Document solutions using Jira/Confluence and communicate progress risks and issues
  • Prototype and evangelise new technologies to shape architecture
  • Collaborate in an agile, fast-paced environment
  • Leverage open source software to improve performance and reliability

Key requirements

  • Strong programming skills in C++ with broad knowledge of algorithms and data structures
  • Familiarity with open source software in a commercial environment
  • Experience with Linux and SQL; basic Linux system administration
  • Strong critical thinking, communication and organisational skills
  • Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
  • Preferred: experience in market data, order management, algorithmic trading, financial systems integration, or compliance
