Site Supervisor

Overview

As Site Supervisor, you will oversee day-to-day operations at Little Stoke and Thornbury household waste recycling centres, ensuring staff and resources are deployed efficiently and compliance is met. You will lead the site team, manage operations and mobile plant, and drive quality monitoring and continuous improvement to deliver excellent customer service. A strong focus on health and safety, incident reporting, and effective staff development will shape your impact. Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day site operations and ensure full compliance
• Coordinate deployment of staff and resources to maintain high service levels
• Manage personnel and mobile plant, monitor quality, and drive process improvements
• Handle staff absence, leave, and payroll-related hours
• Oversee rotas, performance, and staff training; lead and motivate the team
• Communicate confidently across levels; resolve conflicts calmly
• Support incident reporting and investigations in line with health and safety requirements
• Maintain site cleanliness, signage, and traffic flow to address operational issues

Key requirements

• Waste transfer qualification (COTC) or equivalent
• Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation relevant to waste management
• COSHH and RIDDOR knowledge
• Experience with incident reporting/investigations
• Experience in daily site operations and managing team performance
• Proven ability to lead, train, and motivate staff; manage rotas
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; conflict resolution skills
