Technical Director – Electrical (Building Services)

In this Electrical Technical Director role, you will lead UK building services design within a multidisciplinary MEP team, ensuring high-quality delivery and client satisfaction. You will supervise detailed designs, direct performance specifications, and act as the client’s main contact to drive project success. You’ll shape feasibility studies and contribute to business development by nurturing client relationships. Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise detailed design production across MEP disciplines
• Direct the creation of detailed and performance specifications
• Serve as the client’s key delivery contact and manage internal KPIs
• Lead feasibility studies and interpret project needs to guide delivery
• Oversee development and line management of junior staff
• Maintain project overview, resource planning, and team workload
• Conduct regular team meetings addressing resourcing, H&S, quality, and development
• Support business development by nurturing client relationships and promoting WSP capabilities

Key requirements

• Electrical design engineering experience across multiple project sectors
• Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams
• Proficiency in low voltage distribution, lighting and cabling calculations
• Experience with fire detection, access control, security systems and data cabling
• Strong communication and client-care skills
• BEng/BSc/MEng in engineering
• Chartered status with CIBSE/IET/Engineering Council
• RevitMEP training applied to the discipline
