Overview
In this role you lead the Fire, Health & Safety and Security function across the NHS Trust, guiding a specialist team to deliver safe, compliant environments for patients, staff and visitors. You shape and execute the Trust’s safety and security strategy, partnering with executive teams to influence high-level decisions. You will drive governance, assurance, and continuous improvement across a large, multi-site estate. This is a strategic leadership position with a strong impact on patient and workforce safety and care continuity.

Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with statutory legislation and regulatory requirements
- Lead training, inspections and audits of safety and security practices
- Maintain an audit programme to assure policy adherence
- Provide strategic direction for Health, Safety, Fire and Security duties
- Lead and develop a small specialist team and manage external partners
- Drive continuous improvement and strengthen governance across the Trust
- Influence Trust-wide strategy and organisational change related to safety and security
- Report to Boards/Senior Leaders and manage complex stakeholder relationships
Key requirements
- Substantial senior management experience within the NHS
- Significant experience managing Health & Safety within large, complex organisations
- Experience of managing health and safety across complex estates portfolios
- Experience developing and implementing health and safety strategies, systems and policies
- Experience in specialist training design and delivery
- Experience interpreting and implementing national legislation and policy
- Experience reporting to Health and Safety Executive and other regulators
- Experience presenting complex information to Boards and executives
- Line management experience
- Disclosures related checks and vetting requirements (CRC)

- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent postgraduate health & safety qualification
- CMIOSH Chartered member of IOSH
