Overview

In this role you will design, implement, and continuously improve automation for injection moulding and assembly processes. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to boost production efficiency, quality, and safety while reducing downtime and costs. You will lead automation projects from concept to production release and introduce new technologies to enhance operational performance. This is a hands-on role focused on impactful, measurable improvements in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement automated manufacturing solutions for injection moulding and secondary assembly
  • Integrate robotic systems, conveyors, automated inspection, and material handling
  • Evaluate processes to identify automation opportunities and productivity gains
  • Lead automation projects from concept through validation and production release
  • Provide technical support for automated production equipment
  • Troubleshoot automation, controls, and robotics issues to minimise downtime
  • Develop preventative maintenance strategies for automation equipment
  • Support NPI with automated tooling, assembly, and inspection
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focusing on OEE, scrap reduction, cycle time, and labour efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and quality systems (ISO 9001/13485 where applicable)

Key requirements

  • Minimum 3 years’ automation engineering experience in manufacturing
  • Experience with injection moulding automation systems
  • Strong PLC programming and industrial control systems knowledge
  • Robotic programming and integration experience (e.g., FANUC)
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Understanding of IQ/OQ/PQ validation
