Cost Manager / Senior Cost Manager – Life Sciences

Overview

In this role you will deliver cost management across the full project lifecycle for Life Sciences projects, collaborating with the London Real Estate team and other sectors to support client objectives. You will contribute to large and complex schemes, shaping cost strategies from feasibility through handover. The work spans healthcare, education and science projects, offering exposure to two-stage procurements and value engineering in a client-facing environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates and cost plans and present final cost plans
• Manage tendering and procurement activities, including documentation and analysis
• Oversee post-contract variations and change control, reporting significant changes
• Conduct cost checks, valuations and monthly post-contract cost reporting
• Contribute to value engineering activities
• Negotiate and settle final accounts
• Collaborate with clients, consultants and stakeholders throughout delivery
• Provide guidance to junior team members as needed

Key requirements

• Healthcare and/or education sector experience
• Experience across all project stages from feasibility to completion
• Experience with two-stage tendering
• Familiarity with JCT and NEC contracts
• Client-facing experience in cost management
• Understanding of risks in public sector healthcare
• Experience preparing monthly post-contract cost reports
• Procurement management experience (pre-qualification, tendering, supplier selection, contract prep)
• Ability to negotiate final accounts
• Knowledge of contract administration, value engineering and lifecycle costing
• Experience using CostX or similar measurement software
