Overview

As an Associate Fire Engineer, you will lead performance-based and code-compliant fire strategies across healthcare, education, commercial, residential, life sciences, and regeneration projects. You will mentor teams, shape best practice, and collaborate across architecture, MEP, and project management groups. This role offers technical leadership on major bids and complex multidisciplinary schemes, with opportunities to grow Stantec’s fire engineering capability globally.

Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of performance-based and code-compliant fire strategies across a diverse project portfolio
  • Oversee fire and smoke modelling (CFD), evacuation modelling and smoke control strategies
  • Ensure designs meet regulations, standards and Stantec quality processes (ADB, BS 9991, BS 9999, NFPA, EN)
  • Act as Technical Lead on major bids and complex multidisciplinary schemes
  • Build relationships with clients, architects, developers, contractors and approval authorities
  • Lead client meetings, technical workshops and regulatory consultations
  • Champion fire-safety integration across Architecture, MEP, Structural, Transport, Environmental and Project Management teams
  • Contribute to growth of the Fire Engineering service within Buildings across the UK
  • Support work-winning activities including fee proposals, bid writing and strategic pursuits
  • Mentor Fire Engineers and promote technical excellence and knowledge-sharing within the team

Key requirements

  • Extensive experience producing fire strategies for complex buildings
  • Proficient in FDS, PyroSim, Pathfinder or similar modelling tools
  • Strong communication skills to present technical matters to clients
  • Experience in a consultancy environment working on multidisciplinary projects
