Senior Engineer – Product Safety (Hazard Log)

Overview

As Senior Engineer and hazard log controller, you will own the SMARTer hazard log and shape the eCassandra hazard log for MOD delivery. You’ll align safety data across the Safety Team, MOD, and TA groups, ensuring hazards are eliminated or mitigated to as low as reasonably practicable. You will translate design safety arguments into actionable in-service hazard records and drive data quality and maturity of both logs. This role combines engineering rigor with cross-disciplinary collaboration to sustain safe, reliable products. You’ll contribute to a safety-first culture at BAE Systems and engage with stakeholders across defence programmes.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the SMARTer Hazard Log
• Develop and maintain the eCassandra hazard log derived from SMARTer
• Verify quality of hazard log submissions
• Convert data from SMARTer to eCassandra format
• Collaborate with Safety Team, MOD, TA teams, and embedded Safety Engineers to ensure log maturity
